It's that time of the month again, ipsy Glam Bag time!
For any new readers or those unaware, the ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly beauty subscription service. You pay $10 a month, or $110 a year (basically you get one bag free for paying up front for a year) and once a month a package comes straight to your mailbox that contains a cute little makeup bag and five full size, or deluxe size sample beauty products. It's a great way to try out new products and build your makeup collection for a cheap price.
ipsy has a survey on their site where you can tailor your box to your likes and wants. Every month they have around 35 to 40 different items that go into the bags, and the survey helps them to customize the five items in your bag to suit you. You can further customize your future bags by reviewing your bag items on the ipsy website. While the bag might be the same for everyone, the contents are different.
The theme for the July 2016 Glam Bag, is ''Hot Summer Nights''.
This month's bag has a silver holographic "sand" background with a field of peachy pink umbrellas casting dark blue shadows and one dark pink umbrella with the ipsy logo. I am totally digging the silver holo bag, and the umbrellas remind me of Resident Evil and I'm liking that. The zipper is the same peachy pink as the umbrellas, but the piece of fabric surrounding it is dark blue, so it carries on that peachy pink/dark blue shadow theme, which is super cute.
On to the contents!
Vasanti Professional Eyeshadow Brush- Full Size- $21.00
This brush has fairly stiff, tapered, soft bristles. I really like it for highlighting below my eyebrow. The stiff, tapered bristles are perfect for making a nice sharp line for highlight to help keep it out of your brows. I think this could also make a nice clean up concealer brush for around the lips and under the brows.
Eva Nye Get Glossed Hair Serum- Sample Size- $4.50
This is an argan oil and keravis protein serum that is supposed to make hair 3X stronger while protecting hair from heat styling, taming frizz and fly-aways, and adding shine. I've mentioned before that I don't use very many products on my hair. I don't even heat style. I do on rare occasion use something to tame frizz, which is the extent of my hair product use. I don't like the way most serums weigh hair down and make it look oily. This serum didn't do that at all. It's super silky and smooth and has a light vanilla scent. I actually like this more than my current serum.
em Michelle Phan Dramatic Volume Mascara- Full Size- $16.00
Yeah, "dramatic volume" is definitely not a lie. I had an OMG moment after putting this on. I was floored by how much volume I got from a single coat.
Yeah, it's pretty messy and I didn't comb through them... I really didn't plan on taking a photo until after I saw how good it was. I had to take it off to get the ''without'' photo. Seriously though, is that volume or what? This is good mascara, and it's a FULL SIZED tube. I'm loving this.
Skyne Iceland The Antidote Cooling Day Lotion- Sample Size- $12.85
This is a lightweight moisturizer with Icelandic Kelp that helps to revitalize and fight inflammation, and white willow bark which helps to prevent breakouts and congestion in the skin. I've used it for the last two days, and my skin feels like velvet. It is really light, and perfect for these hot months to keep the skin cool and refreshed. I'm not giving up my anti-aging moisturizers anytime soon, but I think this will be great to use after exfoliating masks.
Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer- Sample Size- $3.79
Too Faced Primed and Poreless is one of my favorite primers. I was pretty excited to try this considering my experience with P&P. I was kind of disappointed. As a moisturizer, this is awesome. The coconut water and probiotic based ingredients do an excellent job of hydrating the skin and making it look more refreshed and vibrant. It did not however, make my makeup sit any better or look any smoother, which is what you expect from a primer. It did help extend the wear time of my foundation, and kept it in place, so it does have some good primer qualities. I'll probably use this in conjunction with another primer, probably one that has a tendency to dry my skin.
This month's bag has a value of $58.14, and has one full size product and a brush which is always nice. I wasn't the happiest to get another hair product, since I specifically have it marked that I don't want hair products and this is the 3rd month out of 4 months that I have gotten one. Luckily I really like this month's hair serum, so I'm going to overlook it this time. I really liked this month's bag. I definitely got my $10 worth this month.
