Prayers for Bo

Kaleb “Bo” Miller is 16 years old and has suffered from kidney disease since he was 11 months old. He was diagnosed with FSGS and his kidney function went downhill until the age of 9 when he reached total renal failure. Both of his kidneys had to be removed and he was put on dialysis until receiving a kidney transplant from a friend at his church when he was 10 years old. However, as soon as his new kidney was in, the disease came back. They were in the hospital for two months and almost lost him three times. By the time he was 13 years old; he was in total renal failure again and has been put back on dialysis 4 times a week. Because of his age and disease, they have to make several trips to Augusta every week for treatment, and the travel costs is a hardship for his family.
On top of these issues, he has been very sick recently and he has had three bone marrow tests which have all come back positive for leukemia. In December 2012, he was rushed to hospital and had to be put on a ventilator due to respiratory distress. In March 2013, they found a bleed in his brain and discovered that he has had past strokes. Due to extreme high blood pressure for so long and so many years, Bo is experiencing abnormalities in his heart, shown by a recent echocardiogram. The cardiologist said, “Bo has the heart of a 70 or 80 year old man who has had high blood pressure for a very long time.” He has been in and out the hospital for the past three months & having vascular surgeries through his fistula/chest, due to blockages & sclerosed veins/arteries. Bo recently had his 65th surgery/procedure with many more in the future. This young man will soon be starting a workup for another transplant in the near future. Praying & believing the disease will not attack this one.
