Having a newborn is one of the most precious things in the world.  You have been pregnant for what seems like forever and you now have a baby!  Things can become overwhelming with a newborn in your household.  I am going to give you a bit of advice.  This is from what my mother and grandmother told me and it has worked for me.  I hope my bits of advice help you, too!


Sleep when that baby sleeps!   Even if you can only sleep for 30 minutes during the day while the baby is sleeping , DO IT!  This is the best piece of advice I was given and the most valuable. Your body will thank you for those power naps.






Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Ask your mother.  Ask a friend.  We were all new mothers at one point and seeking advice from others. Dont ever think a question or concern you have seems silly. 

Always, and I mean always, wash your newborn's clothes with Dreft.  Dreft has been around for 80 years and I have always used it on my newborn's clothing and bedding.  My Mom used, Dreft, too.

I have a very difficult relationship with my eyebrows. Very. Difficult. One has a decent shape, but it's not very full. The other is nicely full and has a horrible shape. Don't even get me started on the random annoying hairs that grow in the wrong direction, or out of line with the rest of the brow. Ugh.

I've tried and failed at numerous brow products and had passable results with others. It's really just a crap shoot. One day I'll do a fairly good job, the next day I'll look like I let my 5-year-old do it. Heck, I might try letting my 5-year-old do it, he couldn't do a worse job than I do. even if I get the left one looking pretty good, the right one ends up looking like I didn't even try. That's more user error than product problems.

When it's hot out I like to keep the cooking to a minimum to keep from heating the house up. Anything that can be cooked on a small appliance is a real winner.If it's a quick fix, doesn't cost a lot, and is easy, I'm even more on board. One of our absolute favorite fast, cheap, and easy small appliance meals is chicken quesadillas. They can be made on/in several appliance. Indoor electric grill, toaster oven, sandwich press, electric griddle, or even a waffle iron. We've also made them on a campfire and an outdoor grill, which makes them great for camping too.

In the quest to find good makeup, I've tried hundreds of products from dozens of brands at every price point.  There are basically two factions in the makeup world, the high-end "prestige" brands that are sold in department and specialty stores, and the "drugstore" brands that are sold at mass retailers and drugstores. Building and maintaining a decent makeup brush collection can be a rather costly endeavor. It can also be a rather drawn out process of buying and buying and buying until you find brushes that you are completely happy with. I have around 15 eye shadow brushes, but I only use 3 different ones. One I use for all over and transition colors, one I use for the crease and outer V, and the third I use for blending. Since two of those brushes have to pull double color duty, I had to get a towel and spend several minutes rubbing the brushes back and forth until I got the color out of them. I found myself lamenting having brushes with excellent color pick up. My eye shadow application time was triple what it should have been.

If you have an active family, or a large family, you have probably encountered some snafus when it comes to managing and organising. Who has to be where, and whose night is it to do the dishes? One minor error and the answer to those might both be Little Johnny. Mom might end up doing dishes at 2 am because it's the only time she has free since Little Johnny was at soccer practice.

A lot of families out there have at least one member who was bitten hard by the Minecraft bug. My family has suffered greatly with the joy of Minecraft. We have been addicted from the first time we played it on Xbox 360. A few years and hundreds of hours and millions of blocks placed later, we are still just as addicted, playing on Xbox One. When we heard about Minecraft Story Mode by TellTale Games, we knew we were going to have to have it. The idea of a playable story featuring the pixelated blocks we all have grown to love, was a very exciting one. My husband and I have played a few other TellTale Games releases, and we've always quite enjoyed the game play and story lines. Most of TellTale's games aren't family-oriented, so we have never played them with the kids. Minecraft Story Mode is rated E10+, meaning it is appropriate for anyone over the age of 10.
