When I was growing up, I envisioned the world we lie in today, something like what you would see in The Jetsons.  Who knew how many things would actually be as automated as they are in this millennium.  Most everyone has a smart phone, a computer or some type of device that connects to the Internet.  Gone are the days of looking things up in an encyclopedia.  Google is the new Encyclopedia Britannica.

In today's business world, we have so many things that are automated.  Some say this has caused people to lose their jobs or a company does not hire as many people. I disagree with this.

I think businesses are thriving today because of technological advances.  I think factories are much more efficient making things and making them precisely.   This means the worker has to have much more skill to operate machinery and we are not using workers that do not have some type of college or technical school education.  More skills means more pay, which is good for the workers.

Think about all the types of businesses in the United States.   No matter if it is a large corporation or a small business, there is use of automation that makes the business much more proficient.  You do not have to wait several days for your colleague to get that contract in the mail.  You can send it in an email.   This frees up workers to be much more customer service oriented.  if you work in a car dealership,m you can close a deal in a few hours.  In 1980, you went to the car dealership and filled out all the paperwork and they called you a few days later to let you know if you had been approved for a  car loan.  I think this makes things much more personal when you can spend more time with your customers.  You earn their respect and trust, and that is key in a business.

The people that make those cars, whether they be engineers that come up with the design of the car,
 or the factory worker that puts it together,  cars of today are much more efficient.  Gas mileage, air bags, back up cameras,to name a few, are the advances we have made in automation of the car industry.

I think automation is great in your home.  I recently bought a new washer and I was totally surprised to find out that it uses hardly any water versus that monster that took 40 gallons of water or more to wash a load of clothes.  Our appliances are much more efficient with our natural resources.  This means we pay less  when we use less.  That is winning to me.  Check out this article by Andrew Charlton .  It talks about how why machines won't generate mass unemployment.  I agree with him 100%.  What do you think?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

3 Companies That Offer Superb Customer Service

I am very loyal to businesses that offer superb customer service. Whether it be a local business or a national chain, great customer service is so hard to find.  I am going to share some of my personal favorites.

As far as grocery chains go, Kroger has THE BEST customer service ever.  I have always found everyone in the store to be very helpful.  If a product is out of stock on the shelf,  you can actually get an employee to check the back room.  I know, I know, every store is supposed to do this, but Kroger has,by far, been the best.  The people in the deli area are always so kind and helpful, too.  My son wanted a cookie while he was there with me, so they gave him one for FREE. SCORE!    I am an avid coupon user and I have never had any issues with redeeming my coupons at Kroger.  And,they offer a digital coupon each Friday for a free product.  I could go on and on about Kroger.  This is the model every business should try and copy.

My online shopping experience with Amazon has been superb.  I have been an Amazon Prime member for years.  My autistic son ordered about $150 in movies one day and all it took was a phone call to Amazon to get the charges removed and they helped me password protect my purchased with a unique PIN so that would not happen again.  Any time I have issues with a product, I call and it is taken care of promptly.   Whether I need a refund or product replacement, Amazon has always been very customer oriented.  This is why I order from Amazon and continue to keep my Prime account.

I would say the best overall customer service comes from my local pharmacy. It is not part of a national chain, it is owned by people right here in my small rural town in Georgia.  They say to shop local, so these are the people I trust to dispense medicines for my family.  Not only will the pharmacist fill a prescription after hours or on weekends, he will deliver it to your home.  Now, that is what I call great customer service.  When you or your child is sick, this is when you need people like this in your life.

These are my top three choices from my own personal experiences. Kroger, Amazon, and my local pharmacy have always given me superb customer service. That is the number one reason I will continue to spend my money with them.

I have had more than my share of horrible customer service experiences from online retailers, as well as in store.  I will continue to patronize those that I think go above and beyond to provide  me superb customer service.  I am curious to know, what businesses provide you with the best customer service?  Let me know in the comments.

Have you ever been in a car accident and had injuries?  I have and the injuries were not the only pain I faced.  I had thousands of dollars in medical bills, I lost time away from my job due to injuries, and my car was totaled.  Times like these are when we find ourselves most vulnerable when it comes to insurance companies.

Having proper documentation saves you and your attorney time and can get your case settled and your medical bills paid..  Always make sure you have a copy of your insurance policies in your safe deposit box.  If the accident was caused by someone else, make sure to get the insurance information from them or the police report.

Once you have retained counsel, do not speak to anyone other than your attorney about the case.  If anyone calls you abut the accident, tell them you have retained an attorney and they should direct all inquiries to your attorney.  You might hurt your chances of recovering any losses if you do otherwise.  Your attorney is there to advise you of legalities, so make sure you have given them all the pertinent information.

Having been the victim of a drunk driver, personal injury attorney was wonderful.  He was able to help me recover all the money for medical bills,lost time at work, prescriptions, the loss of my car, a rental car and much,much more.    I could not do all of this on my own. This is why choosing the right attorney is key. 

One last piece of advice, hire an attorney quick!  Ask friends for recommendations, ask family, but make sure you are comfortable with your attorney before you retain him or her to represent you. Please act quickly and do not settle with any insurance company or individual without the advice of your attorney.
