What you should do if you are in a car accident

If you are in a car accident there are some vital things you need to do.  First, call the police and ambulance before you do anything.  If you or any passengers have injuries, you want to make sure they get proper medical care.  This is true for any other cars, drivers or passengers in other vehicles, as well.   Stay right where you are until a law enforcement officer arrives.  Make sure you have name and insurance carrier of any other persons that were driving a vehicle.

Immediately after, I highly suggest you call a personal injury attorney.  While your neck or back may just hurt now, in a few days, you could find out you are seriously injured.  If you are not injured, I suggest taking pictures of any damages to vehicles and take pictures of those injured. This may not seem like a good idea at the time.  But, if someone claims they  have injuries and you are at fault, this may help your case.   You are supposed to have minimum of liability insurance on your vehicle in every state of the United States.  If you are at fault for the accident, it is your insurance carrier's responsibility to pay for damages  and injuries to the other vehicles involved.  If you have comprehensive AND liability insurance, and you are at fault, your insurance carrier should pay for damages and injuries.

There are so many variables when you are involved in a car accident.  That is why you need a personal injury attorney or  auto accident attorney.  They will help you with the ins and outs of your insurance carrier and the insurance carrier of any other liable party.  Getting an attorney quickly helps a lot.  You do not want to wait weeks to do so.  If you wait, you may very well forget pertinent facts.  Or if you are injured, you may very well squash your chances of getting a settlement to pay your medical bills or get your vehicle repaired.

Having an accident can be a PAIN! Pun intended.  But, if you have an attorney, he or she can be very helpful.  Insurance companies have  skilled attorneys and medical professionals that may deny your claim.  if you have an attorney, he or she will see to it that you get the settlement you deserve, so you can pay for your medical bills and get your car repaired. If an accident is your fault, this would be very costly to you personally, if you do not have any attorney.
