Gifts for Differently-Abled Teens and Adults

I have a 19-year-old son with autism and buying gifts for him can sometimes be daunting.  He is differently-abled so I am making this gift guide with gifts for teens and adults who are differently-abled.

Weighted blankets have been super trendy lately and are especially popular with those that have autism. Their original design has been scientifically proven to help ease anxiety and promote sleep, through a process called Deep Pressure Therapy. The Magic Weighted Blanket is special compared to other weighted blankets because they have been made in America since 1998, come with a lifetime warranty, are designed with an attached duvet cover, and are completely machine washable.

Weekend Made Sleepwear designs seamless pajamas that reduce thread-to-skin contact. It's the ultimate luxury! All you feel is the buttery-soft fabric made with eco-friendly modal and lyocell, which are naturally biodegradable. They package and ship their luxury pajama sets in compostable packaging to reduce their impact on the environment.

SleepPhones® was developed by a family doctor who needed a way to listen to soothing music after taking patient calls in the middle of the night. SleepPhones® have helped millions of people all over the world sleep and live better lives.

SleepPhones® feature a luxuriously soft headband that contains thin removable speakers to play music, audiobooks, meditation, white noise, or talk radio. SleepPhones® are fully padded with nothing sticking into the ears and are so much more comfortable than other headphones out there.

They offer a Classic version (that’s an Amazon’s Choice) that plugs into virtually any device as well as a popular Wireless version that connects with any Bluetooth® enabled device. We recently updated the Wireless version with a larger battery which takes less time to recharge! People love to use them as they try to fall asleep—and to block out the noise and stress of travel. The Classic version is $39.95 while the Wireless version is $99.95. We also have our Bluetooth® enabled SleepPhones® Effortless™ which offers the same capability as the Wireless version with no-fuss induction charging—just lay the headphones on the charger. This product retails for $149.95. SleepPhones® are available for sale on our site, Amazon, and in retail stores across North America, Europe, and Australia.

SleepPhones® are ideal for not just sleeping, especially in loud or unfamiliar environments, but also meditating, chilling out to white noise or nature sounds, jamming to your favorite music, catching up on a good book or podcast, going to the gym, or walking the dog.

Tinkering Toddler Crates LLC makes educational, play-based activity boxes that are PERFECT gifts!  While these crates may be designed for toddlers, many with sensory process disorders find these quite enjoyable.  My son is 19 and we will be doing the activities I this carte as we lead up to Thanksgiving.
