Anyone that knows me, knows I love a deal. And by that, I mean great deals. I never pay full price for much of anything I buy. I am always on the hunt for coupon codes, free shipping, percentage off sales. I often shop in the offseason because that is when the discounts are even steeper.
I JUST saw an ad for Macy's on TV saying save now on your favorite brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Inc and I immediately went to my fave deal site Slickdeals! I wanted to see if they had any Macy's coupons so I can get the best discounts on this great sale on the name brands that I love.
The best shopping advice I can give you is NEVER PAY FULL PRICE! There are always coupon codes, free shipping codes, and percentage off sales that the store has themselves. You get the best deals when you can combine all methods. For example, I bought a Kitchen Aid mixer that was on sale, I had a coupon code for $20 off $100 purchase, and another code for free shipping. So, I ended up with a major score on that mixer. You have to stack codes to get the best deals.
You also have to watch for seasonal sales. In January is when they have the "white sales" and that is usually when things like bedding, sheets, towels, and comforters are on sale. These sales usually offer THE lowest prices at retailers and there are always free shipping codes, coupon codes, and other codes you can stack to get the most bang for your buck.
Also, look for sales around holidays( and not just Christmas). Labor Day is a great time to buy a mattress. I bought a mattress from Macy's this year during their Labor Day sale. It was originally a $1200 mattress. They had it on sale and I was able to score some coupon codes from Slickdeals to bring my total down to under $400. That is more than a 75% savings and I got free shipping, too. Just remember, timing is everything on major purchases. If you know you are going to make a higher dollar purchase, it is key to knowing when things like mattresses go on sale. You want to get the deepest discount you can.
I know right now, most retailers, including Macy's are trying to move apparel. So, if you plan on purchasing clothing, you must be on the lookout for the sales and check Slickdeals OFTEN to see what codes you can use. I am seeing HUGE discounts on summer clothing. Since I live in the South, we can use a lot of summer clothing like shorts and tank tops through most of the fall season, too. Or, if you have a growing child, go ahead and buy the next size up and look for those coupon codes on Slickdeals.
Another great way to score even more deals from Macy's is to sign up for their newsletters. Many times that will be the only way you get the coupon or free shipping codes. You can also download their app in the Play Store or Apple App Store and turn on those notifications!
And last but not least, I get some great deals because I am a Macy's credit card holder. Deals are sometimes offered to Macy's credit card holders exclusively. While I do enjoy my credit card, I make sure to pay my balance in full the moment I get my statement, so I do not incur any interest charges. If you have to pay interest, it is not a deal!
