#PrinceofPeace and the Power of Prayer

In 2016, I went to the dermatologist for a routine visit.  During this visit, they found a spot on my back and removed it.  Two weeks later, I got the call that forever changed my life.  I had malignant melanoma, also known as CANCER. I was told I would need surgery to see if all of the cancer could be removed.  I was devastated. Cancer?  Me? I immediately dropped to my knees and began to pray.  I then called my sister, in tears, to tell her the news of my diagnosis.  During our phone call, she told me she would pray for me and ask the members of her church to pray for me, too.

Over the next several weeks, I let my the rest of my family know, I had cancer.  I also told a few close friends.  They all said, "we are praying for you."   I was still scared.  I had heard so many stories about cancer:  chemotherapy, radiation, and the ultimate fact that I might die. I have a teenage son with autism and I also have custody of my teenage granddaughter,  Surely, Jesus Christ would not take me from them.  They needed me.

I decided to tell my friend, Chip.  I have known Chip for many years.  Chip has devoted his life to Jesus Christ and lives in Ukraine, where he helps those with addiction and PTSD.   Chip asked, "did you pray for healing?"  I told him yes.  He then let me know that I needed to do this daily.  I needed to ask others to pray with me.  I needed to ask others to pray FOR me.  This was how prayer worked.

Mind you, I have always believed in the power of prayer and I have prayed for others, as well as my self.  After speaking with Chip, my praying was almost constant.  I was told to be specific in my prayers.

Not only was I praying, I had people all over the world praying for me.  I felt touched.  I knew my Savior, Jesus Christ there looking over me as I had had my surgery.  I know He was guiding the surgeon's hands, as well as everyone in the operating room.  I felt His presence,  This was exactly what I had asked Him for.

Two weeks later, I got the results of my biopsy and I no longer had cancer.  I knew this was because of all the prayers I had asked for and because of all the prayers on my behalf.

I have always believed in the power of prayer.  This whole situation with cancer has taught me more about the power of prayer and brought me closer to Jesus.  It is such a good feeling, too.  It is one you cannot gain without Jesus in your life,

5 Tips To Make The Moving Process Easier

13855784355_447b9c3280_b.jpg

Moving home can be a stressful ordeal. Take the hassle out by adopting some of these useful tips certain to make your moving experience less exhausting and more exciting.

Throw away what you don’t need

Relocating is a chance to have a fresh start. Out with the old, and in with the new! Go through your items and determine which ones are valuable possessions and which ones are simply clutter. Anything that is clutter can be got rid of. Give yourself enough time to sell some of this clutter, rather than simply taking it to the dump. Moving home is usually an expensive enough process and you may be able to make some money to cover it by visiting flea markets, second hand shops and holding a yard sale. There are also many online sites where you can sell your belongings, as well as buy and sell Facebook pages for keeping things local and cutting out the cost of postage.

Weigh up the costs of removals

Some people will cut costs by hiring a van and doing their own removals. Whilst this can be cost-effective for short trips and few possessions, dealing with longer distances and more possessions prove less cost-effective and practical, as you’ll be making multiple long journeys back and forth. Look into moving companies online and weigh up the costs. You should also consider the costs of packaging – some removals companies will supply this, whilst others won’t.

Use photographic evidence

When boxing up, use you smartphone to take a picture of the contents of each box before sealing up, so that when you come to unpacking you know which boxes you need to access which items. This is much less time consuming than listing contents on the side of the box. Photos can also be good proof of a damage if something is broken during the removals process.

Don’t forget to clean up

It’s courteous to clean up your home after you leave it empty. If you don’t have the time or energy to deal with this after the exhausting moving process, consider hiring a cleaning company to do the dirty work for you. Occasionally estate agents or landlords will opt to arrange the cleaning themselves, but you should never assume this – failing to clean up could result in extra fees in some cases.

Get the kids out the way

Moving day is not a good environment for the kids. Whilst they may enjoy playing hide-and-seek around the boxes, heavy furniture will have to be carried and removed and a time schedule may need to be abided by, which may make it a dangerous place for children, as well as a stressful time. Find a friend or family member that can look after your kids for the day (potentially a couple days whilst you unpack too) so that the moving process goes as smoothly as possible. The same applies to any pets such as cats and dogs that are likely to find the process stressful.
