Popilicious Popcorn Cake and Treats Oh My!

Top Tips for Getting Ready for Amazon Prime Day with Slickdeals

Amazon Prime Day is coming on October 13th and 14th.  Let's discuss ways you can get ready now to snag the best deals.

Let's make sure you have a Prime account.  After all, these deals will be for Prime account holders. You can get a free trial account for 30 days for FREE.  You can cancel at any time, but I promise you will not.  Having a Prime account affords me free 2 shipping on thousands of items.  But the DEALS hey are going to have on Prime Day are going to be CRAZY, so make sure you have an account!  Students get a free account for 6 months.  If you have Medicaid or if you receive SNAP/EBT you can get Prime for $5.99 month.

 Start shopping now!  Make a wish list of all the items you want.  You might want a bike for your daughter for Christmas or you might want an air fryer for Grandma, so make a wish list.   If that item is a Prime Day Deal, you can just buy it straight from your wish list.

Many items will sell out fast, so you have to make sure you are following along all day and night to score the best deals.  Grab your cup of coffee or your favorite energy drink, and of course your credit card! There is going to be a LOT of coupon codes for items on Prime Day.  That means HUGE discounts on the items you might want to purchase.  You need to bookmark Slickdeals Amazon Prime Day so you can get all of the deals and all of the coupon codes that are going to be offered.

I am hoping to snag some new boots for myself and a new gaming mouse for my son.  You can bet I will be on Slickdeals all day and night, more than likely in my pajamas.  I so love epic sales like this, I can get all of my Christmas shopping done and never leave my house. The best part, it gets delivered straight to my front door.

To stay within my budget, I am going to buy an Amazon gift card for a certain amount, go ahead and add it to my Amazon account and when that has been spent, I have reached my spending limit for this event.  But, my credit card should remain on file in case I snag another deal. (who am I kidding, right?)  But, I promised to give you tips so you can get ready, so that is a very good way to stay on budget.

Slickdeals will have all the deals whether it be Prime Day or any other day.  Make sure you have saved the link I posted above.  One of the items I have bought from Amazon time after time is their brand of trash bags.  And, I first found them on Slickdeals. That has got to be THE item I buy the most.  The quality is that of the name brands, but the price is much much lower. That's why I love Slickdeals.  No matter if it's Prime Day or Wednesday afternoon, they have the best deals and the best coupon codes on items I actually buy.

Make sure to ALWAYS check with Slickdeals before you make any purchase on Amazon.  You can save more money when you find a deal and/or a coupon code.  You may get lucky and find both.

Tips for getting the best deals at Macy's using Slickdeals

Anyone that knows me, knows I love a deal.  And by that, I mean great deals.  I never pay full price for much of anything I buy.  I am always on the hunt for coupon codes, free shipping, percentage off sales.  I often shop in the offseason because that is when the discounts are even steeper.

I JUST saw an ad for Macy's on TV saying save now on your favorite brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Inc and I immediately went to my fave deal site Slickdeals!  I wanted to see if they had any Macy's coupons so I can get the best discounts on this great sale on the name brands that I love. 

The best shopping advice I can give you is NEVER PAY FULL PRICE!  There are always coupon codes, free shipping codes, and percentage off sales that the store has themselves.  You get the best deals when you can combine all methods.  For example, I bought a Kitchen Aid mixer that was on sale, I had a coupon code for $20 off $100 purchase, and another code for free shipping.  So, I ended up with a major score on that mixer.  You have to stack codes to get the best deals.

You also have to watch for seasonal sales.  In January is when they have the "white sales" and that is usually when things like bedding, sheets, towels, and comforters are on sale. These sales usually offer THE lowest prices at retailers and there are always free shipping codes, coupon codes, and other codes you can stack to get the most bang for your buck.

Also, look for sales around holidays( and not just Christmas).  Labor Day is a great time to buy a mattress.  I bought a mattress from Macy's this year during their Labor Day sale.  It was originally a $1200 mattress.  They had it on sale and I was able to score some coupon codes from Slickdeals to bring my total down to under $400.  That is more than a 75% savings and I got free shipping, too.  Just remember, timing is everything on major purchases.  If you know you are going to make a higher dollar purchase, it is key to knowing when things like mattresses go on sale. You want to get the deepest discount you can.

I know right now, most retailers, including Macy's are trying to move apparel.   So, if you plan on purchasing clothing, you must be on the lookout for the sales and check Slickdeals OFTEN to see what codes you can use.  I am seeing HUGE discounts on summer clothing.  Since I live in the South, we can use a lot of summer clothing like shorts and tank tops through most of the fall season, too.  Or, if you have a growing child, go ahead and buy the next size up and look for those coupon codes on Slickdeals. 

Another great way to score even more deals from Macy's is to sign up for their newsletters.  Many times that will be the only way you get the coupon or free shipping codes.  You can also download their app in the Play Store or Apple App Store and turn on those notifications!

And last but not least, I get some great deals because I am a Macy's credit card holder.   Deals are sometimes offered to Macy's credit card holders exclusively.  While I do enjoy my credit card, I make sure to pay my balance in full the moment I get my statement, so I do not incur any interest charges. If you have to pay interest, it is not a deal!
