We are always looking for new and rewarding learning experiences for Zach. Zach has autism and is non-verbal  We were invited to test out Smile-Zemi.  This tablet is designed for learning only and has no access to video platforms or online games.

First of all, it is super easy to set up!  Smile-Zemi is on an Android tablet, so you must have internet available.  It also comes with a pen or you can use the touch screen.

I love that he can do everything on Smile Zemi without my assistance!  We use the program for about 20-30 minutes daily.  This is a great program and I love that it has the digital pen that comes with it.  Zach likes to work on the problems on the tablet, which is a huge plus.

I also like that it has a reward system after reading about the huge success it had in Japan, I am impressed.  

It aligns with Common Core standards, which is what his school uses.  I am glad he gets to reinforce learning at home.  I am happy he will have this tablet and daily educational activities with summer break only a week away.  This will help him retain what he has learned and get him ready for the coming school year.

Hey Parents!!  You can track and monitor your child's progress in REAL TIME via your smartphone.

I also like that you don't have to use the sound.  I like quiet learning sometimes and I think that gives a child more independence while learning.  It has captions that you can use with or without sound.  Instructions are clear and concise.

At the end of a lesson, there is even a place to take notes.   So far, we are thrilled with the Smile Zemi!  We will update you in June when we have had a bit more time to use it.

Encountering some difficult students, Kelsey learns some are defiant to her teaching methods and tries a different approach.The principal encourages her to learn from Horace, another young teacher who is liked by the students.In an effort to assimilate, Kelsey asks Horace to teach her to ride a Vespa and their friendship starts to form. Kelsey’s adventures and explorations of the country continue, her students warm up to her, but Kelsey knows her time there is5 expiring. The school throws a big Christmas party at the end of the semester. Students ask Kelsey to help them learn and perform a play based on the Biblical book of Ruth.
